Google will release 3rd Android 11 developer preview in May 2020

Google will release 3rd Android 11 developer preview in May 2020. According to Google , the first beta version of Android 11 is due to be released in May 2020, and platform stability should be achieved in June. Google has released a new developer preview of Android 11. The third pre-release now brings some new features that could make it easier for programmers. The Exit Reasons API, for example, can be used to get details after an app suddenly quits. In the third preview version, Google updated the API based on user suggestions. The new ADB incremental mode should speed up the transfer of files via ADB (Android Debug Bridge). The installation of very large APK files via ADB can sometimes take a long time and thus reduce productivity.  Thanks to ADB Incremental, the transfer of files with more than 2 GB should be up to ten times faster. In the pre-release version, the new mode only works with the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, but after the start of Android 11, all new devices sho

Samsung Galaxy Short-Breathed Chrome Book with 4K OLED

Samsung sells a well-equipped Chromebook with lousy battery life for $1,000.

The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook is now commercially available, the convertible device was originally announced in January 2020. Most previous Chromebooks have rather slow hardware and are inexpensive, the Galaxy Chromebook with 13.3 inches is an exception here.

Samsung is offering it for $999, but initially only in North America. It remains to be seen whether the Galaxy Chromebook will also appear in this country - it is very unlikely. The device is still interesting: It measures compact 300 x 203 x 9.9 mm at a fairly light 1.03 kg, even though there is a pull-out pen in the convertible. It is suitable for the 4K OLED touch panel with a brightness of 400 cd / m² and an adaptation of the color temperature to the ambient light.

Inside the Galaxy Chromebook is a current Core i5-10210U (Comet Lake U) a quad-core processor from Intel. It is combined with 8 GB of economical LPDDR3 memory, and a 256 GB NVMe SSD is installed as mass storage. The convertible has two USB-C ports, a micro SD and UFS card reader and two webcams. Wi-Fi 6 (802.1ax) and Bluetooth 5 are available for wireless connections, but not LTE or 5G.

According to initial tests by Engadged and The Verge, the battery life is catastrophic at around 4 hours, despite the almost 50 watt-hour capacity. The 4K OLED panel is likely to be one of the main reasons here, but the constant online connection for web applications should also make itself felt. The performance, however, is right, even with 20 tabs in Chrome and 7 Android apps, the Galaxy Chromebook remained responsive.

Chromebooks are less in demand in Europe than in other countries, but there are still offers of high-priced devices: The Chromebook Spin 13 from Acer and the Chromebook Flip C436 from Asus cost around $1.10.
